My work spans portraiture, life drawing and painting, still life and landscapes which are grounded in observation and infused with a balance of realism and expressive line.
As the wife of a diplomat and mother of two my life has been shaped by creativity, cultural exploration and adaptability, enriched by years living abroad.
My professional career began as a copywriter in a London advertising agency followed a year later by editorial work for a newspaper in Mexico. After further years in property sales back in London the family eventually moved to Wiltshire (after several more postings abroad), where I work from my studio today.
With my portraits, created in soft pastel, I try to capture the unique spirit and individuality of the subject. In recent years I have expanded into still life and landscapes, painting in oil or acrylics and sometimes both in the same painting!!
I draw huge inspiration from the equestrian artist Jonathan Trowell when painting horses racing , while my approach to life drawing is a pick and mix of styles - Tamara de Lempicka and Amedeo Modigliani are strong influences.
